Turner Prize 2010

The Turner Prize is an annual award given to a contemporary British artist.  The 2010 winner is the Glasgow based sound artist Susan Philipsz with her sound installation Lowlands.   The above video shows the piece in action under bridges crossing the Clyde river in Glasgow.

I first saw the story about the Turner prize award on the BBC news a few weeks ago.  I really liked the piece because it is experiential, people who happen near the river have a memory that is interesting regardless of explanation.  The most exciting urban experiences are found, stumbled upon or unexpected and this piece shares in that idea.
