RUE Wants To Hear From You

Hey RUE readers – as you know, we recently collaborated with the Community Research Unit at the University of Regina to host a student blogger during the Fall 2010 semester.  It was a great experience and we are hoping to continue participating in their Community Service-Learning program in the future.  There’s potential for us to host another student or collection of students in the spring, and instead of just getting students to write posts we thought it might be fun to give them a project to complete.  That is where you come in!

We want to know what you’d like to see more of here at RUE and what topics you think deserve more attention in our city.

Should we get students to research and map public infrastructure in Regina’s neighbourhoods or in the downtown (i.e. bike racks, benches, width of sidewalks)? Conduct a reader poll on a particular topic (i.e. transit, housing, public art) and have students more closely examine the results?  Identify some lesser known buildings in Regina and have students see what they can find out about them?  The sky is the limit!

We want your biggest and best ideas – send us everything you’ve got. If we can’t do the project immediately, we’ll at least have it on our radar for the future.

To send us your thoughts:

1) Leave a comment below

2) Send ideas via twitter @reginaurbaneco

3) Email regina(dot)urbanecology(at)gmail(dot)com

We look forward to hearing your thoughts!

  1. I like everything you have written about thus far, and your new ideas are equally exciting to me! But…

How about a study on Urban beautification with the future prospect of a SE extension of Wascana park, or a new NW park by way of Wascana Creek? Is it viable? Is it necessary?

I would like to see some studies on future Regina transit as well. Possible LRT plans? What routes would be best and what population would we likely need to put this action in place? Calgary started to plan in `67 (pop: 335,00). We are not quite there yet, but from `67 til 2010, I think the necessity of this type of transportation has been raised!

These are both things that have been on my mind recently and would love to see them, or anything related for that matter discussed.
